Ladakh to Spiti Highlights

Days 6 - Nights 5

Day 1: Arrival in Leh

Arrive at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport and transfer to your hotel. The first day is dedicated to acclimatization due to the high altitude of 11,500 feet. In the evening, if you feel fine, you can explore the local Leh Market, visit Shanti Stupa, or relax at a rooftop café with views of the mountains. Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 2: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La

After breakfast, begin your journey to Nubra Valley by driving across Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. Descend into the Nubra region and visit Diskit Monastery, followed by the sand dunes of Hunder, where you may enjoy a ride on the double-humped Bactrian camels. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Day 3: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shyok Route

Leave Nubra early and take the adventurous Shyok route to reach Pangong Lake. This route offers spectacular scenery, river crossings, and remote mountain landscapes. Arrive at Pangong Lake by afternoon. Spend the evening enjoying the lake’s changing shades of blue, and stargazing if the skies are clear. Overnight stay at a lakeside camp.

Day 4: Pangong Lake to Leh via Chang La Pass

Wake up to sunrise views over the lake, then start your return journey to Leh, crossing Chang La Pass along the way. You can make short stops at Tangtse village and visit the Druk White Lotus School (3 Idiots school) if time allows. Reach Leh by evening and rest overnight.

Day 5: Leh to Kaza (Spiti Valley) via Sarchu and Kunzum Pass

Today is the longest and most scenic drive of your trip. Start early from Leh and drive through the More Plains and Sarchu, crossing Baralacha La and then Kunzum Pass to reach Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. The route is rugged but incredibly beautiful, with constantly changing terrain. Arrive in Kaza by late evening. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse or hotel.

Day 6: Spiti Exploration and Departure via Manali or Return to Leh

If you’re exiting toward Manali, you can explore Key Monastery and Kibber village in the morning before driving to Manali via Atal Tunnel. If you're returning to Leh, start early and retrace your way back, though this will be a long travel day and an extension night is recommended. The tour ends with unforgettable views of high-altitude Himalayan deserts and deep cultural experiences across both Ladakh and Spiti.
