Amritsar Tour

Days 3-Nights 2

Day 1: Arrival and Golden Temple Visit

Upon arrival in Amritsar, check into your hotel and freshen up. Your first destination is the Golden Temple, the spiritual heart of the city. Spend ample time soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, walk around the holy Sarovar (pool), and take part in the community langar (free kitchen meal). After your visit, walk along the Heritage Street that leads to the temple—this stretch is full of colorful shops, local snacks, and beautiful architecture. Later, visit Jallianwala Bagh, located just a few minutes away, to witness the historic memorial site. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Punjabi dinner at a well-known place like Kesar Da Dhaba or Bharawan Da Dhaba. If you're not too tired, return to the Golden Temple to experience its serene night view with beautiful lights reflecting in the water.

Day 2: Culture, History, and Wagah Border

Begin your day with a visit to the Partition Museum, which offers emotional and historical insight into the 1947 India-Pakistan partition. From there, head to the Durgiana Mandir, a beautiful Hindu temple with architecture similar to the Golden Temple. For lunch, enjoy authentic Amritsari kulchas and lassi from popular local spots such as Kulcha Land or Ahuja Milk Bhandar. If you have time before heading out of the city, consider a quick visit to Gobindgarh Fort for a taste of Sikh military history, local crafts, and traditional food. By early afternoon, make your way to the Wagah Border, around 30 kilometers away, to attend the famous Beating Retreat ceremony between Indian and Pakistani soldiers. This patriotic display is a must-see. After the ceremony, return to Amritsar and have dinner at a dhaba or your hotel.

Day 3: Local Markets and Departure

On your final day, explore the Ram Bagh Garden and Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Summer Palace, which is now a museum. It offers a glimpse into Punjab's royal past. Afterward, head to Hall Bazaar, one of the city's main markets, where you can shop for phulkari embroidery, Punjabi juttis (traditional shoes), and local food items like papad, pickles, and spices. Wrap up your trip with a final local meal—perhaps some chole bhature or parathas. Depending on your departure time, you can relax at the hotel or revisit any favorite spot before leaving Amritsar.
